I need to do a photoshoot...and a few pic fics. When time allows>.< I have several ideas...it's just a matter of time to implement them. Unfortunately, I have a few other not so fun projects to finish first...like cleaning and thank you cards. Bleh.

I'm seriously considering getting the new obitsu SB4s for my dolls. I really like what I've seen of them so far. So beautiful! Way better than the original type 2 or type 3 bodies. Of course, I want to see one in real life before I purchase them. Thankfully, Kimi has at least one SB4, so one of these days I'm going to go over and check it out. We've also talked about having our own mini-pullip meetup, so this could double for that^_^ The trick, or course, is when...but I am majorly drooling over the SB4. I want one for me to wear, dang it!

I'm kind of disappointed in the newest releases. I'm not even remotely interested in Butler. I like Blanche's hair and dress, but I don't care much for her eyes and faceup. Meh. Oh well. Saves me money, at least.

I need a couple of Taeyangs. The girls need boys! I know I want a Sage. The only problem is which other boy do I want? At first I was thinking Missionary, but I'm not too fond of the red around his eyes. Honestly, I mostly like his hair. Right now I'm leaning towards Filato. We'll see. Have to convince my hubby to let me get them first^_^ I know he will, it's just a matter of when we can afford it. Plus the whole get the other boring crap out of the way beforehand thing. No point in buying them right now if I don't have the time to do anything with them. So, as always, all in good time.

Anyway, gotta get back to work!!

I finally got around/had time to write profiles for my lil family. I had a few battery issues...the rechargables I had in the camera died near the end of the shoot. Thankfully, the other pair had been on the charger since at least the last photoshoot. I don't know if I put them in wrong or what, but they were dead, too! Arg! So, I'm almost done with my shoot, and I have 2 pairs of dead batteries. My camera takes AA, so finding replacements isn't too hard. I have lots of remotes...heehee, salvage time! My first victim was the TV remote. Unfortunately, while those batteries work great for controlling the TV, they didn't have enough juice to take any pics. Next, I turned to the DVD remote. Nope, AAA. Dang. VCR, here I come...yay, they worked! So I temporarily commandeered batteries from the VCR remote to finish my shoot^_^ Which reminds me, I better put them back before I forget and try using the remote...

Isn't that adorable? He's super supportive about the whole Pullip obsession. So, we're now the "parents" of this lil doll family^_^

Boots!!

Aerlyn and I went boot shopping on Saturday. Kimi (tumbleweeds) heard I was looking for shoes to fit Aerlyn's type 2 feet, and that I'd been looking at black boots, so she found some way cute black boots at a local doll store that looked like they'd fit!! She told me that they're way nice about letting you bring your doll in with you to try things on before purchasing. How cool is that? Like regular shopping, but for dolls! So, we tried them on...it took forever to unlace them enough and then shove them on all the way, but they fit beautifully!!! Naturally, I had to buy them. Poor Aerlyn didn't have any shoes that fit anyway, and her sister has tons that fit. Since they're such a pain to get on, they're not coming off for awhile...I just hope they don't stain her beautiful striped socks!

Oo! And Aria got a couple of new outfits. Annoyingly enough, they don't sell more than 3 Bratz kidz outfits at Target, and 2 of them I already have and the other I don't like. So poor Aria was stuck. But one of the Bratz kidz came with 2 very cute outfits, including a much-needed pair of jeans. So of course I bought it^_^ Here's Aria sporting one of her new outfits:

As always, the sleeves are adjusted to mini size, as are the jeans. The tiarra came with a Barbie Fashion Fever dress I just bought. Naturally, the tiarra is better sized for a mini than a full sized Pullip^_^

In other news, Mom bought me a sewing machine!! Yay! I've been wanting to learn to sew for ages, but more so ever since I got into this whole Pullip thing. I'll be able to make dolly clothes! Woohoo! Now to learn...I'll learn first by making something for me, and by making simple things, like dolly blankets and pillows and such. And then I'll try tackling clothing. I knew a little sewing, but not much, so this will be good. Yay!!! My mommy loves me^_^ So what if I'm an adult, she still spoils me! I swear, between my parents and my husband, I am the most spoiled grown-up ever!

Yay, Panda is here^_^ I had to go pick her up at the FedEx station Friday night, since my sister was asleep when they tried to deliver her *growls at Yeesa* But, she's here now, and that's what matters^_^ She's so cute! I swear, almost every picture of her is a glamour shot! I love her^_^ Her name is Aerlyn, which means "song" or "holy song" in one of Tolkien's elf languages. I need to write profiles for everyone, but first, it's picture time!!

Since before I even ordered Panda, I knew I had to make some sort of cute family for the girls. No parents yet, dollwise. I haven't decided what I want to do about that. But Aerlyn, Aranel, and Aria have 4 more siblings now.

First family pic! Forgive the messy compy desk background; they didn't have a house when I took the picture. Aerlyn is the oldest at 17, Aranel is 15, Abram (Barbie Kevin from the 90s) is 13, Adam (Barbie Todd from the 90s) is 7, Aria is 5, and the twins, Aden and Ada (Quints) are 1. Aren't they cute?? I changed the boys' clothes since the pic, but they don't exactly have as much to choose from...

Now that I have this cute little family, I need a place for them to live, right? So on Saturday, my husband and I went to Goodwill and found the perfect house for them! It's an old stereo cabinet, with a missing glass door. It had 2 extra shelves, but I may use them to expand the house someday. At present, it only has 3 floors/rooms. It's not very big, but we don't have that much room right now anyway. So it's perfect to start with. Plus, it was only $8!! I haven't done much yet, but it's coming along well. Pics are behind an LJ cut.

Here's the empty stereo cabinet. Not particularly great looking, but just you wait! The main reason I got it was for the depth and height of the shelves, and the super great price! Besides, who cares what it looks like now? It's going to be all decorated and cute anyway^_^

We also got this unopened set of Barbie accessories for 69 cents at Goodwill. How cool is that? those blue shoes are adorable! And the water bottle! Oo, and the CD case actually opens and you can take the CD out! Course, the sunglasses won't fit the Pullips, but they'll work for the boys...and they sort of work on Aria. Ish. Sorry about the flash flare on the plastic...oh hey, there's my knee!

Here's the living room with some furniture and such. Barbie sets, mostly. The playpen I've had for years...the living room is the 1st floor.

I need to make beds^_^ Aria will have a bunk bed above Aranel. Their dresser is actually a jewelry music box I got for my 12th b-day. It plays "You Are My Sunshine."

The boys' room. With the shelf situation, there's only room to make 2 stories that Pullips can stand in...and so, the boys got the short end of the stick here. Adam can stand up, but poor Abram can't^_^;; Oh well. Hey, since 3 girls have to share, it's only fair, right? (The babies sleep in the living room due to lack of space.) Also, they've switched sides of the room since.

I got out my scrapbooking supplies and found the perfect wallpaper! Unfortunately, it's not as tall as the room and I only had 2 sheets of it, but isn't it gorgeous? If I can find more, I'll do the other walls the same, but if not, I'll probably get a solid blue to match. Also, I used a solid green sheet of 12x12 scrapbook paper for an area rug. I'm not sure if I'll stick with that yet. If I can find something that looks nicer, I'll get it, but if not, I'll keep the green rug. Looks more like a home now, doesn't it?

I added a few more props, like the opening CD, the water bottle, and a notebook that came with a porcelain doll I got years ago. And who could forget Shinku's Kun Kun plushie! The shininess of that Barbie bulletin board bugs me...I wonder if I could make it less light sensitive? And less magenta, for that matter.

The boys' room, with a few added accessories. Abram has sunglasses, a media device (not sure what it's supposed to be!), and they now have a dog.

The whole house, as it is right now. It's going to be way cuter soon, but first I need to get all the supplies for it^_^ Also, it's not really going to live in front of the door like that...I need to find a real place for it still!

Phew! What a long update! But there you have it; my new Pullip, family pics, and a new house for them to live in! Granted, it's not finished, or even entirely furnished, but hey, it's a roof over their heads...and a heck of a lot better than my computer desk^_^

Hee, also extremely late, though not as much as the previous one. These pics were taken on the 8th^_^;; I got a new lamp to help with lighting, and it's fabulous.

Panda Delivery Delayed

Arg. I could kill my sister right about now. Ok, so not really, but I am so mad at her! Not as much as I was earlier, as I found a way around her negligence, but I'm still irritated.

Let me explain. I told her Panda was going to arrive today, around 10:30 ish. I kept looking at the tracking info obsessively all morning. She arrived at our local FedEx office early this morning, was put on a truck for delivery, and made it to the house around 11:20, but since no one was around to sign for her, she went back on the delivery truck!! GRRR!! Curse you, Yeesa!! Bad sister, bad! Yeesa was home, just asleep (as usual). But I told her I had a package coming, and approximately what time! I called beforehand and left a message. Not too surprising, as she is a lazy lazy bum and refuses to answer the phone half the time, even when she is awake during the day. Even so, she knew I was expecting a package and that they needed someone to sign for it. Since she was the only one who'd be home at the time of delivery, I was depending on her to sign for it, hoping she'd have her fat butt out of bed by then.

And since Monday is a holiday, they wouldn't try again until Tuesday afternoon...NOOOO!!! Can't wait that long!!

Thankfully, I was able to get ahold of our local FedEx station and will be picking Panda up after work tonight. They said my package will be on the truck until around 6 ish, when it will arrive at the station. They close at 7, so I just need to be there between 6 and 7 and she'll be mine!! Yay!! So excited^_^ But I'm still annoyed that my stupid sister wasn't able to sign for her when she came to the house...

Panda!!!

I know, I majorly need to do a picture post (lilsisterelly sent me a text message on Sunday that said, "*poke* picture post!"), but I'm at work and don't have pics on this compy. I do, however, have news!!

So, I saw pics of Panda on the PS forum, and what she looks like NOT in her panda suit, and totally fell in love. Like, majorly. So cute!! I posted a want ad in the forum, but no luck there:( Sadness.

But, Kimi (adasca/tumbleweeds) found Panda on Ebay! I did a search there on Saturday, but found nothing but mini Pandas. As cute as they are, I didn't want them - I wanted a full-sized Panda! Kimi looked today, found a "buy it now" of Panda, and sent me a link. Woohoo! Only problem is cost and talking Hubby into letting me spend that much on a Pullip^_^ I knew he'd say yes, especially after the lil deal we made on Saturday about it (pay off the money he owes his mom if he lets me get Panda^_^ - a topic that I'm annoyed about, since she cashed the check yesterday and I asked her to wait till Friday when we get paid), but I had to tell him before I could push the "buy it now" button.

Course, he didn't answer his phone (he was working) and I tried time and time again to reach him. I finally got ahold of him this afternoon and I'm getting her!! Woohoo!!! I'm so excited!! Not sure how long it will take for her to arrive, since the seller is in Singapore, but I'm super super excited!! Yay!! I'm getting Panda!! Woohoo!!! ^___^

Clothing and Photography

Pullip Clothing

I have so much clothing, oh my goodness. I haven't even tried most of it yet, but it's way way fun. I'm going to hold off on getting more for awhile, though. Been spending more than I should on it lately, you know? But I've got some to get me started. First of all, I dug out some old Barbie and Skipper clothes that my sister and I had from our childhood. Of course, most of those outfits are like late 80s/early 90s Barbie fashion, so they aren't exactly up to date. But there are some very cute outfits, even if they are outdated. I have yet to actually use any of the older clothes on Aranel yet; the newer clothes are just too cute that I had to try them out first. And they fit very well, for the most part, so I'm satisfied. I've been putting some way cute combos together. So many options!! Way too fun. I'll be good and not buy more for awhile.

Mini Pullip Clothing

This is a harder category, as there isn't as much info available and not as many options. I found Lil Bratz clothes to fit mostly well. The sleeves on the long sleeve shirts are too long, but nothing that a pair of scissors can't handle^_^ I cut the sleeves to length, and the shirt now fits perfectly. Will post a pic when at my home compy (at work, don't have pics on this compy). The extra length works great as cute lil leg warmers, though, and match the outfit beautifully. I only have one LB outfit (wanted to test it before buying more...plus they only had 1 cute outfit in stock at the time), so I'm not exactly an expert, but it worked pretty well.

The skirt is a bit loose, but doable. When she sits down and then stands again, it slides down a bit, but that's easily adjusted.

I also tried the mini kingdom Barbie clothes. They sort of fit, but are a bit loose and about an inch too long. They work ok, but not as well as the Lil Bratz clothing.

Poor Aria only has 2 outfits in addition to her stock clothing, so I think she'll be my clothing focus for now. Especially since her big sis has TONS of clothing in comparison.

Photography

So, Aranel and Aria are both super cute and all, but I'm having a few photography issues. I've got a fairly decent camera, I've got cute clothes for both of them, but that's not where my problems lie. I'm having issues with backgrounds and lighting. I need cute backgrounds! So far, the fireplace is the cutest in terms of backgrounds, with the whole riverstone look. But the lighting there isn't the best. I need some sort of portable lamp or something for lighting. I keep getting shadows where I don't want them.

Normally, I'm great with photography, but most of my photos are of scenery or my cats. With scenery, the background is naturally there. With my cats, the fact that our house is a complete disgusting mess doesn't really matter. Ok, so it does a little, but...it's easy to crop that out. And sometimes, they're sitting in boxes, so by default part of the background is cute. But with poseable dolls...it's totally different. I hadn't really experimented with studio-type photography before, so this is a new experience for me. I actually have to think about things like background and lighting! For scenery or cats, it doesn't need to be as finely tuned, you know? Not that I don't think about those things, it's more that I don't have to create them. Like, I see a gorgeous sunset on the ocean and I take some pictures, playing with flash and zoom options as I do so. Not exactly the same. This takes so much more precision!

I need to go find some Pullip photography tips. Been looking around the PS forums and have yet to find what I'm looking for. I thought for sure I saw a thread on it somewhere...ah well.

So far most of my backgrounds have been blankets, sheets, the cover for our hideously ugly chair, and the fireplace. Oh, and I used my fav pink sweatshirt for the background in my current LJ user pic^_^

Posing is a bit of a problem, too. How the heck to people get them to stand?? Or sit without falling over, for that matter. I've leaned Aranel up against the fireplace and the wall a few times, and that works ok, but...I've seen all sorts of cute positions, standing/sitting and such, and how do people prevent their Pullips from topling over? I am seriously having issues with this. Most of the "standing" pics I've taken are actually of her lying down. I've set it up so that it looks like she's standing, but in fact, she isn't. But those backgrounds are always so dull it seems. I want some life behind them, you know? Hopefully soon I'll be able to take some time to put something cool together for a background.

I did take more pics over the weekend, including Aria in her new outfit. Didn't get the chance to upload them yet, though. Will be doing that soon^_^ Like, when I'm not at work. Although I've got a baking contest to win at work tomorrow, so I'll be baking tonight.

Anyway. To summarize, I need to upload more pics, come up with better background and lighting options/solutions, and take more pics. Need to build my experience in Pullip photography a bit before I can even consider entering a photography contest.

Speaking of contests. Even though I'm obviously not eligible to enter the PF contest at present, I think one way to help me improve my photography skills will be to take themed pictures as if I were in the contest. Don't know how well they'll turn out and such, but it could help me with having better backgrounds and props. We shall see. Must focus on lighting and backgrounds a bit first, but I'll try it out. If the pics totally suck, I won't be posting them. But...well, we shall see^_^

First of all,, the girls have names! I picked out names before I got them, but wanted to wait till I actually had them to decide for sure. I wound up sticking with my original plan. My Shinku is Aranel (hee, my name in one of Tolkien's elf languages^_^) and my mini Raphia is Aria. Naturally, they're sisters.

I have pics!! Yay! I took tons and tons, too. Man. I posted the best (waaaay too many to post all - like, over 100!!) on the galleries option here on LJ, just because I'd never played with that feature before (my main account is a basic and I figured I may as well test out the plus for this one). Not sure how to access them and put them in here from there, though. Hm. I don't know if I plan to do that from LJ, or if I'll just upload them to my own domain.

There are a lot of super cute ones, so it's a hard decision to make, but it's so very sweet. I don't know, maybe the Valentine's Day stuff is getting to me or something. Cute, ne?

I took pics until I killed out both sets of rechargable batteries...heehee. Batteries are recharging as we speak, so be prepared for more pics over the weekend! Tomorrow's date night (and pay day!!), so we'll be going out to dinner (yay!).

Welcome to my Pullip journal! I just got it today. My first Pullip, a Shinku, came in the mail yesterday. I also got a mini Raphia. They're so cute! I can't wait to start taking pictures and posting them! I'm way excited to play with them. Yay for Pullips!!
